Far from your regular tattoo studio, Dr Morse is well worth seeking out, even if you’re not so desperate to get inked yourself. Hidden aloft in the James Smith Building, the Dr Morse Tattoo Studio has found refuge in a quirky space that replicates a submarine. Despite the elusive location, the mission to find it is a worthwhile one.
Art, eccentric figurines and submarine décor make the studio a fairly eclectic and interesting place to get a new tattoo. And much like the surrounds in which the tattoo art is done, the tattoos here are far from ordinary. Tattooist Simon Morse doubles as an illustrator and comic book genius, and so has developed his custom art into tattoo drawings for people all over New Zealand. If you’re after a tattoo that is different to the rest, Dr Morse will see you right.
