Contemporary and chic, The Hotel Britomart opened in October 2020, but its journey had started long before. Across a lengthy period of about 15 years, a carefully curated development saw The Hotel Britomart become an integral part of the Britomart precinct’s master plan, helping turn a once derelict area into one of Auckland’s most lively precincts and showcasing some of the best New Zealand has to offer.

Much more than just a city hotel, The Hotel Britomart is the country’s first 5 Green Star rated hotel, designed to embody sustainable luxury. This ongoing dedication to sustainability is evident throughout the hotel’s entire design, construction and day-to-day operations (including a plastic-free policy and strict waste management practices), yet there remains no compromise on the hotel’s commitment to providing exceptional, personalised, immersive experiences for each and every guest.

Mere steps away from The Hotel Britomart’s front door lies the Britomart neighbourhood, a nine-block precinct located just moments away from the waterfront, home to flagship stores of leading fashion labels, as well as several award-winning restaurants and salons. With its boutique gym, beautiful displays of art, and valet parking, The Hotel Britomart fits right in. Its in-house restaurant, kingi, offers sustainably and locally sourced seafood and game under a mesmerising 1800-piece glass ‘fish-scale’ chandelier, and The Libraries is a further series of intimate private event spaces located within the hotel.

Offering 99 guest rooms and five Landing Suites (named after their luxurious sister property in the Bay of Islands), The Hotel Britomart targets premium business travellers and urban vacationers, with an ability to cater to families through adjoining rooms. Its exterior is somewhat striking, clad in 150,000 hand-made bricks, creating a sense of craft and a strong connection with the neighbouring buildings. The tasteful design continues to the guest rooms, which feature cocoon-like timber floors and walls and luscious stone-tiled bathrooms. Built-in sofas offer reading nooks, while locally-made ceramics provide personalised comfort. In three natural colourways, the rooms are a serene counterpoint to Britomart’s buzz.

Whether it’s a weekend getaway, a business trip or even just a staycation, The Hotel Britomart offers its visitors a luxurious and unique New Zealand experience, with a clear connection to place, purpose and to people.
