Often filled to the brim on sunny days with diners eager to drive 20-minutes from Christchurch to this harbour haven, the relaxed vibe of the historic Ōtoromiro Hotel is contagious. Park up on the sun soaked deck to enjoy sweeping views of Lyttelton Harbour, or nestle into the lawn furniture amongst the surrounding native trees and rose garden.
Even if you’re visiting outside of sunshine days and hours, you will still be welcomed by colourful grounds and stunning vistas. Inside, the welcoming ambience continues with various dining options in the snug bar or function room - along with a pool table, giant chessboard, foosball table, jukebox, pinball and board games. As well as the unique atmosphere; award-winning, seasonal gastropub and sharing-sized fare; prized wines and local, crafty beers are on offer at Ōtoromiro Hotel. The present-day delights of the hotel are only amplified by its decadent history, some of which is proudly displayed on the walls.
Founded in 1870, the hotel still stands in all its colonial beauty, featuring seven fully-renovated guest rooms some with sea views and balcony access.
