Game, set, match! In a sunny spot on Worcester Boulevard, this tennis-themed café with a gram-worthy brunch menu is the new King of the Court. A self-titled ‘house of refreshments’, the crew at Doubles sure know how to serve the goods.
Two words describe the decor at Doubles: bright and fresh. A light-filled clean white space, accented with soft forest green tiles and weatherboard detail, and just the right amount of leafy indoor plants. The design is simple, refreshing, and perfectly executed with subtle details alluding to the tennis theme. Even the La Marzocco is on brand in a classy all-white.
Like its sister café Lux Espresso, Doubles source their ingredients as local as possible. Bread from Grizzly Baked Goods is a daily staple. You’ll also find an assortment of the delicious home-style baked goods that Lux has become known for, alongside a full brunch menu exclusive to Doubles. Smoothies are another new addition to the offerings at this city centre café. Whoever dreamed up the dairy-free strawberry and peanut butter smoothie is a gastronomic genius - it's pretty ace!
The creative brunch menu is reminiscent of an inner-city Melbourne café, with a slight Korean twist. Club Champ, a fresh take on the classic eggs bene, with a homemade leek and sage rosti, is a solid 10/10. But for something a bit unique, try the oh-so-popular Croffle (a croissant pastry waffle) in either sweet or savoury form.
Doubles is all about exceptional coffee (Allpress of course) and beautiful, tasty food that you can’t wait to tell your friends about. The choice now is whether to drop in for an early morning caffeine fix or stop by for a leisurely Sunday morning brunch. Both would be highly recommended, but the ball’s in your court.
