For a feast full of heart and soul, you’ll want to send Scotts Epicurean to the top of your brunching list. This go-to is where you’ll find Hamilton locals grabbing their early morning Allpress espresso, unwinding with a long lunch (yes, there’s wine on the menu) or dropping in for a weekend brunch outing. TLDR; you can’t go wrong at Scotts Epicurean.

Having been in business for more than 20 years, it’s no surprise the team here has café culture nailed. Relaxing, humble vibes paired with damn good grub = the recipe for success. Tucked away in a heritage building on Victoria Street, you’ll be greeted with vintage windows, pressed tin ceilings and comfy leather booths that are perfect for lounging in.

There’s also a cosy courtyard out back, decked out with lush palm trees and bathed in dappled sunlight. You can even rent out this delightful space for your next special event, Christmas do, or lavish private dinner—how dreamy.

On the menu, you’ll find a line-up of classic bites done damn well. Breakfast will have your stomach grumbling with a range of savoury bagels and moreish waffles featuring very indulgent toppings. It might have to be dessert for breakfast, but we’re not judging.

Rolling on to lunch, there’s one fan favourite dish you simply have to devour: the Aglio Olio. Described as 'Scotts' famous and addictive pasta,’ it’s a simple yet punchy combination of spaghetti, parsley, garlic, chilli, EVOO and a hearty helping of Italian parmesan. Bulk it out with optional extras like bacon, chicken, chorizo or shrimp for an even better time.

For something different, try one of the Nordic-inspired potato dishes like the Rårakor, also known as crispy Swedish potato pancakes, topped with Scotts’ salmon gravlax, pickled cucumber and crème fraîche. We’re not drooling, you are.
