It’s the kind of simplistically stylish bakery you’d expect to find on a New York avenue or down a European side street. Happily, however, it’s only a short drive from the centre of town in the company of some other good food establishments in the fledgling suburb of Berhamphore.

Open only four days a week, word has quickly got about Baker Gramercy, and in particular its bread. The bread is just how homemade bread should be – delicious and imperfectly beautiful. The only way to describe the bread and assortment of other baked goods on offer is by referencing the shop’s own description – “handcrafted goods of character”. And while it’s so nice to find someone doing handcrafted bread so well in the suburbs, it’s even better to find it with impeccable coffee and friendly, down to earth service.
