Who knew you could fit so much into a garage? Wellington’s Eva’s Garage isn’t your average coffee stop, it’s a one-of-a-kind inner-city escape built from concrete, chrome, and a whole lot of character.

Housed in what was once a working garage, this versatile space honours its past with a gritty yet welcoming aesthetic that slots seamlessly in with its Hannahs Laneway neighbours. Many of the original features have been retained, such as the parking bay lines on the floor and the painted concrete walls and exposed brick. Rough-sawn timber shelving, made from the original rafters, embellishes the industrial theme. Yet the space has been softened just enough with a warm touch here and there, think green cord fabrics, accent lighting, and an abundance of fresh flowers.

At the centre of it all sits a glossy red 1952 Chevy, because “no garage is complete without its big red car”. If there was ever such a thing as a one-stop shop, you’ll find it here: Eva’s Garage brings together cafe culture, an artisan gift shop, a florist, a barbershop, a coworking space, and a flexible events venue all under one roof. It’s the kind of place where you can grab a trim, pick up a bouquet, sip a flat white, and browse for a birthday gift, all before lunch.

The namesake of this space is not only Eva Street, but also ‘Eva’ herself, a reimagined 1950s mechanic, based on an artwork the team found when they took over the space. Eva embodies resilience and creativity; she’s bold, welcoming, and built to last. There’s no linear flow here, no rules for how to enjoy the space, just an open invitation to slow down and feel part of something. Whether you come for a meeting, a moment of calm, or just to be around good people, Eva’s Garage makes room for you.
