Small, fast-paced and a stone’s throw from the city centre, this café certainly lives up to its well-suited name. Mismatched wallpaper, retro chairs and formica tables - a visit to Zippy Central can definitely transport you back in time, and that’s exactly the reason locals come here again and again, because a comfortable eatery should feel familiar after all.
Coffee Supreme are the beans of choice here, while the kitchen team here serve up some of New Zealand’s favourite dishes (hello nachos and mac’n’cheese). Chalked up on the menu behind the counter are also a range of burgers, wraps, salads and bagels - and it only makes sense to finish your meal off with something sweet from the counter.
Bright and vibrant with friendly staff behind the counter, Zippy Central is an obvious local hangout for the very fact that it’s not trying to impress by being anything other than a cosy, fun neighbourhood café.
